Airport Redevelopment
Under the Caribbean Air Transport Connectivity Project (CATCOP) – funded by the World Bank through the International Development Association (IDA) -Lauriston Airport is undergoing strategic upgrades aimed at improving operational capacity, safety, and regional accessibility.
These upgrades will position Lauriston Airport as a modern regional hub capable of supporting increased air traffic and meeting global operational requirements.
Upgrades include:
1. Installation of Night Landing Facilities
A key component of this transformation is the introduction of night-landing facilities, which will enable safe and efficient nighttime operations by late 2025.
These enhancements include:
- Beacon Light on the ATC Tower
- Flood Lights for the Apron
- Runway and Apron Lighting
- Navigation Lights
- Precision Approach Path Indicator (PAPI)
- Obstruction Lights
2. Runway Extension & Terminal Upgrades
A longer runway and modernized terminal will accommodate larger aircraft and improve passenger experience.
3. New Control Tower, Advanced Security & Passenger Amenities
State-of-the-art air traffic control systems, enhanced security measures, and upgraded passenger amenities will ensure world-class service.
4. Hurricane-Resistant Infrastructure & Renewable Energy Systems
Hurricane-resistant designs and renewable energy systems will make Lauriston Airport a model for sustainability and disaster preparedness.
